Erica Mary Johnson

When I was eleven years old, I discovered I had a gift for using my hands to help others heal, and from that time onward my life's purpose was clear to me. In my early twenties I started studying various forms of bodywork, and years later became a Licensed Massage Therapist in Hawaii in 2004, and in 2010 I got my Registered Massage Therapist license in Toronto.

I love massage, and throughout my career I studied many different modalities. However I was never a typical Massage Therapist because I was naturally very sensitive and attuned to subtle energies, and focusing just on the physical level alone was not very interesting to me. The Massage Therapist label started to feel like a box that I was trying to fit myself into. This experience was echoing a theme in my life of being different and trying to fit in where I clearly did not. As I began to accept that my difference was not a negative thing, and felt safer to be myself in the world, I started to incorporate my gift for working with the energy body into my massage practice.

Over time as my work evolved, I felt that I needed to create a new name for what I was doing, because Massage Therapy was no longer an accurate description. I was doing much more than just massaging my client's aches and pains.

At the same time, the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario began introducing a number of strict rules and regulations to control how RMTs work. And in light of current world events, it is likely that more restrictions are coming.

After much consideration, I have decided to let go of my RMT license, and practice independently outside of the system. This means that I can no longer accept insurance unfortunately, but I am free to practice in a way that is aligned with who I am.

I have chosen to call what I do Intuitive Mind Body Energy Work. I consider what I do as a path of sacred service, and am deeply honoured to assist and support people on their healing journeys.
